I understand your skepticism.

Only a few short weeks ago, I too, would not have believed this statement.

As someone who has relied heavily on the mind, I would have thought for certain the heart had no answers worthy of my time or attention.

Yet, gradually, I’ve been discovering that the heart has more answers than the mind does.

I got good at shutting down the heart. I would venture to guess that many of us have gotten good at this skill.

Maybe you went through a bad breakup. Maybe a parent passed. Perhaps you’ve gone broke.

These are the types of events that cause us to make the heart wrong. Because it hurts too much.

So, we shut down. It’s only natural. Our impulse is to protect our most vulnerable asset.

But before long, it becomes habitual, and we forget how to awaken the heart. We shut down. Close off. We forget to live.

When that happens, we only have one choice – to rely on logic and rationality.

We may as well be hollow robots at that point because we lose the very humanness that makes us human.

The ability to feel is unique so far as we (humanity) know. And it’s beyond amazing that we should be blessed with such faculties. The very faculties that make each of our experiences unique.

I’ve been discovering that my heart knows my desires better than I think I do. It knows what I’m here for. It knows exactly what it wants.

When the brain and heart achieve coherence, they begin sharing information with each other. They have an articulate conversation.

I realized that my job is to recognize and nurture my inner child. The child that believed he could have anything he wanted. The child that was sure about what he was here for.

Now I’m sure about what I’m here for.

It’s not about what others think is good or right. It’s about what we always knew was possible. What we dreamed about when we were children.

Others will always scoff at your desires. Tell you that it’s wrong. Tell you that it’s not all that it’s been “cracked up to be.”

To that I say, hogwash!

Your heart isn’t wrong. Don’t listen to others. You don’t even need to tell them what your heart already knows. It’s not for them. Their heart is telling them something else. And, they haven’t listened to it in a good, long while if they’re jaded and cynical about life.

In these times of upheaval and resetting, the number one thing you need to do isn’t to:

  • Wear a mask
  • Social distance
  • Wash your hands
  • Stay inside

No.

I’m not saying don’t do these things. I’m saying these things aren’t of the highest importance.

The number one thing you need to do right now is get in touch with your heart. Embrace your inner child. Be a good parent and give that inner child a shot at its desires.

Life’s not over. It’s only just beginning.

If your heart is open, you will be better able to respond to any situations that arise.

The best way to get in touch with your heart is to turn everything off (TV, Netflix, smartphones, etc.) and just sit with yourself. Meditate.

When you begin living, you won’t fear dying anymore.

Hey, I don't make the rules.

I'm about 10% there now. Take a moment to give me that sub.
