Why I’m Scrapping My 14th Book (And What’s Coming Instead)

Like a train bound for its destination, “keep on the rails” is a phrase that coaches have sometimes used to instill in their pupils the importance of single-minded focus.

Few things matter more than focus in the achievement process, because anything unfinished can’t truly be considered an achievement.

Entrepreneurs – at least the ones I’ve talked to – frequently reminded me that the efficacy of a strategy can’t properly be assessed absent a full year of execution. Again, highlighting the cruciality of focus.

But I have long held that there is an appropriate time to pivot, even if you are fearlessly bouldering down the tunnel of concentrated effort. That time? When innovation leads to breakthroughs previously unimagined.

This is what AI, combined with human oversight, now makes possible.

The Saga Unfolds

Last year, I erected a book launch schedule on the blog, made a promise to myself and the world that I would launch six books over a year and a half.

So far, I’ve delivered on this promise, and five out of six books have been successfully launched.

But much has happened in that time, not the least of which, the growth of Spark Infinity, my Facebook group, thanks in large part to my participation in BUMP Global TV.

And it has been brought to my attention that there is no need to publish into the void anymore. I have a group, and it’s growing, and it represents a significant opportunity.

Not just an opportunity to put offers in front of an audience, but to continue to connect with and serve the creative community in the capacities I have been and beyond.

As I’ve been giving more attention to the looming launch of my sixth book (well, sixth in the saga, not in my entire catalog of 13), it’s become clear that I don’t need to publish into the void anymore.

Surprise, Uplift

Next on my book docket was Surprise, Uplift, based on a series of essays I produced about creative identity a few years ago.

I was aware, though, that these essays didn’t represent my A+ material, and that if I wanted to write and publish a good book on the topic, it couldn’t revolve around these essays.

I thought that Surprise, Uplift would be fashioned into a personal statement. Then I realized I already had a book on the topic of creative identity serving as my statement – Flashes of Elation.

Which meant one thing:

Surprise, Uplift was superfluous. It had no place in my growing catalog of books.

Of course, I’m the kind of person who follows through on what he says he’s going to do…

A New Opportunity Emerges

So, I racked my brain for a while, trying to figure out how to approach this project.

Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait long. GUS (God, Universe, Spirit/Source) gave me a download, and then the intent and scope of the project became crystal clear.

Surprise, Uplift quickly transformed into States of Elation (working title). If you guessed that it may have some connection to Flashes of Elation, you guessed right.

The book will be like a course in book form, and I’m excited about its development and release.

But it’s unlikely that it will be released on September 30, 2025, as originally planned. There is the issue of development, which I could fast-track. But a proper launch should be accompanied by at least a 30-day campaign, and I can’t do both in the time available.

Coincidentally, every other book I released as part of my saga spent time in pre-order status, but I long since forgot to set up Surprise, Uplift for pre-order. I now believe this was fortuitous.

Why This Matters

I take my commitments seriously. So, if I am going to be breaking them, I feel it’s my responsibility to communicate why.

Put simply:

You’re not going to be getting Surprise, Uplift (unless you order a truckload of stacks to decorate my backyard).

No, you’re going to get something much better. You’re going to be getting States of Elation, which, know it or not, is probably what you wanted anyway.

But I am not promising it by September 30, especially since I have another launch in the works…

Keep an eye on Spark Infinity if you want to find out what it’s about.
