David Andrew Wiebe: July 2021A change of pace is nice.

A change of environment is even better.

I’ve talked about these concepts in depth, especially in my book, Start Your Year the Right Way, but I continue to affirm this notion, even as my peers continue to report to me that they’ve found great value in taking time away from their monotonous and entrenched life.

Although not entirely planned, I ended up taking a working vacation for most of August, with a bit of back and forth between western BC and Alberta, as well as western BC and interior BC.

(After publishing daily for a full year, I also needed to step away from podcasting and creating weekly digests for a while.)

The drives were kind of grueling, and these are not trips I intend to repeat any time soon, but still, I got something I would not have gotten otherwise.

First, I got some much-needed rest. I had no idea how much I needed it until I got to Calgary towards the beginning of the month.

Second, I got to reconnect with friends and family. Not necessarily in the capacity I wanted to, but still vital.

Third, I got to appreciate my current living situation more. I live in a basement suite in Abbotsford, and that’s mostly by design (I’m not quick to upgrade my lifestyle even if I can afford it), but sometimes it’s easy to take for granted. I returned to the suite with new eyes and have started appreciating my living quarters and surroundings more.

Do you need time away from the same old, same old?

Is it time you started appreciating what you regularly take for granted?

If you could approach your work, your creativity, your business, and your life with a new sense of gratitude and appreciation, what difference would it make for you?

We often say vacations are “too expensive,” but not taking time away can be just as costly, especially if you end up burning out.

If you feel tired, exhausted, unappreciative, irritated, anxious, depressed, or otherwise, it will inevitably seep into the rest your life, no matter how hard you try to block it.

Your move.

Justin Longo quote

Must-Have Resource

There’s a personal development program I’ve been through three times, and each time I go through it, I learn more about myself and what matters most to me. I’ve also been able to improve my health, grow my business, and challenge myself intellectually.

The name of the program is The Gold Within.

Any artist looking to get clear on the impact and difference they want to make in the world (their brand) should go through The Gold Within program at least once.

Final Thoughts

Thank you for your creativity and generosity. I’m rooting for you.
