Inspiration for The Renegade Musician

David acknowledges that, first and foremost, he is inspired by artists. As a creative himself, he understands that the journey to living and loving your passion can be a real challenge, and the reason he continues to create resources for creatives is that he believes in people’s potential and wants to do everything he can to unlock it for them.

Secondly, he was inspired by his own experiences. David has played 322 shows, released 49 songs, and has won four Best Original Score awards as a composer to date. He’s taught guitar and piano, busked in the streets, played the open mics, produced several releases, and even invested in a music industry startup.

David knows well the challenges many artists are facing, not just the ones he faced in the Napster and MySpace eras, but also what musicians are going through today.

Thirdly, he was inspired by Dan Kennedy and Lee Milteer. David has had many mentors through the years, and certainly doesn’t identify as a “Dan Kennedy fanboy,” but there’s no question he’s taken inspiration from Dan’s grumpy and sarcastic approach to writing and humor, not to mention his brilliant content.

Renegade Millionaire is a significant entry in Dan’s catalog, David says, because it illustrates what “acting differently” might look like for an entrepreneur.
