Today, we launched episode zero of the new podcast, the Adrenalize Def Leppard Fan Podcast.
Given that it’s “episode zero,” it’s a short and sweet episode, but it does hint at things to come.
No matter how many podcasts you start, though, it seems like it always takes a few episodes to find your footing. This will likely be the case with the new Def Leppard show as well.
Either way, though, I feel like I haven’t had this much fun in a while. And that made me think… maybe that’s what’s been missing from my business efforts. Humor.
Humor is a magical thing. Obviously, we all like to be entertained. We all like to laugh. But humor can do so many other things.
Humor can soften blows. When harsh truths are revealed through humor, they tend not to hurt as much.
Humor can work like a hall pass for parodying what some might consider “sacred.” Just look at “Weird Al” Yankovic. Of course, there are people who don’t like him all that much, but even the artists he’s parodied are generally thrilled to be lambasted by him.
That’s the hope with our new podcast as well. I have a lot of respect for Def Leppard, but I’m probably going to be trying some crazy things. I’m going to be letting loose. And I’m hoping that humor will gloss over anything that might hit listeners the wrong way.
But like I said yesterday, the new podcast and merch line feels like a sandbox in which I can play without restraint. It’s all an experiment anyway. If all goes according to plan, it’s going to take off, but even if it doesn’t, if I have the time of my life doing it, it will be well worth the effort.
Fundamentally, though, I’m doing this to leave Adrenalize in a better state than I found it in. That isn’t to say there’s anything wrong with it. Rather, I want to see it take off as it has never taken off before and support my friends in taking their careers to new heights. To that extent, I believe it will become another great case study I share on Music Entrepreneur HQ.
To top it all off, I am working on some new music for the podcast, some of it ridiculous. I’m having a blast.
