Themes Emerging in Your Daily Life

Themes Emerging in Your Daily Life

If you pay close attention, you’ll see themes emerging in your daily life.

Whether it’s topics that come up in conversation, videos you watch, articles you read, podcasts you listen to, or otherwise, you’ll notice synchronicities if you’re present to them.

And these themes could be more significant than you even realize.

My Theme for the Day – Goals

Today, the theme that’s been repeatedly emerging in my life has been goals.

This Bruce Lee quote, specifically, hit me like a puppy on speed:

A goal is not meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.

If this was true for someone as accomplished as Bruce Lee, then clearly, it’s true for me too.

My Relationship with Goals

As I reflect on the last few years, I can see that I’d grown cynical and resigned about goals. Mostly because I didn’t reach the goals I’d set back then.

I’d been able to achieve a great deal without having goals. So, why would I need them now?

I discovered that transforming my relationship to goals would mean giving up any meaning I’ve come to attach to them. It would mean dropping whatever has, and whatever hasn’t, happened as result of pursuing my goals.

And by doing so, I would gain a sense of freedom with goals I haven’t had in a long time.

Plus, when I closely examine what I have and haven’t been able to accomplish, I can see that Bruce Lee was spot on. I didn’t always reach my goals. But they gave me something to aim at.

Three Goals

In April, inspired by Neville, I hand-wrote my three goals on a piece of paper and put it up where I could see it daily. I never shared it publicly, as Neville does, but based on my latest experience, I might start doing that too.

Looking back, I basically achieved one and a half goals. About 50% of what I had set out to do. But maybe that’s 50% more than I would have done otherwise.

I believe three goals is the ideal number for a month. It can be a stretch, but it’s achievable. That seems to be the sweet spot. You want to narrow down your options and prioritize just the objectives that matter. But I digress.

What Themes are Emerging for You?

The question is, what themes have been emerging in your life today? How has the universe been trying to get your attention?

Just as the universe wanted to transform my relationship to goals, maybe there’s a lesson or a transformation waiting for you also. Perhaps it’s something you’ve been trying to work through, or struggling with for a long time, and allowing spirit to speak to you would cause a breakthrough.

It’s okay if you missed today’s themes. No sense beating yourself up.

But if you weren’t present to today’s themes, could you make a conscious effort to be more present tomorrow? Are you prepared to accept whatever comes up, even if it appears difficult or challenging?

The universe is tapping you on the shoulder, trying to show you what’s next for you and your life.
