What you don’t know is crippling your ability to be more effective.
Yesterday, I purchased a $40 eBook on how to use Twitter more effectively.
I knew I was on the right track with Twitter. As I’ve shared before, I’ve made it one of my priorities this year.
Whether Twitter will still be relevant or around 12 months from now aside, it has proven to be an effective channel for me. It gets me in front of my audience and allows me to connect with them.
So, I wanted to go a little deeper. I knew there were some things I was missing.
And I found exactly what I was looking for in that 36-page eBook.
It didn’t take a long time to read or extract the information. It didn’t take a long time for me to put it to use either. It just cost a bit of money. Not a lot of money, but enough money to buy a great meal.
Still, ignorance was costing me time. A LOT of time. I could have spent the next months or even years trying to figure out what I’d found inside the eBook. Because there’s only so much you can reverse engineer without knowing what’s going on behind the scenes.
Remember. There’s always a public portion to the strategy you see, and a private portion you don’t see. The question is how much you’re willing to pay for the portion you don’t see. There’s always a public portion to the strategy you see, and a private portion you don’t see. I now have a more complete Twitter growth strategy. And I can easily turn it into a checklist or a system now.
Likewise, I have a daily checklist for Medium. I spent quite a bit of time learning about Medium earlier this year. And while it hasn’t led to fast growth, it’s steady.
My success on Medium will still have more to do with crafting amazing articles people want to read and submitting to the right publications than the exact steps I follow. But I feel more at ease knowing that I have a working, repeatable system that has led to demonstrable results.
