“It’s Not Even Good”

by | Dec 13, 2023 | Personal Development

As I comb through lists of one hit wonders, I find a few nostalgic gems from yesteryear…

And then I’m struck by the sordid majority that are frankly awful.

As I’m briefly distracted by a highly engaged post on LinkedIn, I’m struck by the same thing…

“It’s not even good!”

But people are commenting like, “Oh, that’s so brilliant,” “That’s such a good idea,” “This program is awesome!”

As I’m staring back at some of the most obvious, derivative, bandwagon advice I’d recently read.

And that got me thinking about what makes something resonate.

I was reminded of Dan Kennedy’s “Wealth Magnets” numbers eight through 10, which are:

  • Be Somebody
  • Be Somewhere
  • Do Something

Based on what I’m seeing, success can’t be any more complicated than that!

Assuming you’re somebody, somewhere, doing something, you always have a chance of hitting a few right notes.

Assuming you’re somebody, somewhere, doing something, you always have a chance of hitting a few right notes. Share on X

If you don’t believe me, you should go and listen to the one hit wonders of the 2010s… many of them are so awful on so many levels…

They made it because they were somebody, somewhere, doing something. That’s it.

If I were to add one thing, it would be this:

Go with the dumbest, silliest, most obvious idea that comes to mind. Because chances are that’s exactly where the Zeitgeist’s head is at.

The more time spent on it, the less likely it is to resonate.

So, go make something and post it TODAY.

P.S. Also, read Dan Kennedy’s No B.S. Wealth Attraction in the New Economy. It’s good.
