As you’re likely aware, I started helping out with The Question community back in September 2015. We’ve been on hiatus during the summer, but community gatherings will be resuming in September. In addition to being an opportunity for me to put many of my talents to use, it has also connected me with some really great people.
You may have also heard me talking about Deanne Matley’s Listening Room series. I had her write a post for The Music Entrepreneur.
In the last two to three months, I’ve been connecting with both Deanne and The Question founder Frederick Tamagi to discuss the future of Listening Room YYC.
We’ve done a bit of re-tooling, but we’re moving forward with the project, and have scheduled eight monthly events at Café Blanca and Red Bush Tea & Coffee Co. starting in September. You can check out the website and our Facebook page if you’d like to learn more.
We’re really looking forward to presenting the new The Circle and The Classics formats. The Circle will feature emerging songwriters in a unique songwriter circle, and The Classics will feature jazz vocalists performing tunes inspired by the likes of Julie London, Sarah Vaughan, Johnny Hartman, and others.
With your help, we believe we can get the word out about the new community. If you would be willing to share our events on your Facebook profile, we’d be very grateful. You can find the events on our Facebook page. I am scheduled to perform at the September and October The Circle events, which I’m looking forward to.
In addition, Long Jon Lev is scheduled to perform at John Dutton Theatre (in Calgary Public Library) on September 9. We’re celebrating all kinds of birthdays and reunions and who knows what else. We’d love to see you there as well.
September is shaping up to be an exciting time. I look forward to seeing you, and on behalf of everyone involved, know that we really appreciate your support and help in sharing these upcoming events.
