If you’ve been part of the community for any length of time, you probably know how important we think it is to get out of debt. In fact, it’s even one of the main keywords or taglines of the website.
One of the realities is that people don’t really know who they really are if they’re under the burden of debt. And so, here are three reasons to begin to eliminate debt from your life.
- Debt takes up too much mind space. Whether you recognize it or not, you’re thinking far too much about getting out of debt, when in reality, you need to think about prospering. You need to think about abundance. But it’s hard to think about those things when you’re under the pressures and burden of debt. Debt is actually impeding your ability to recognize opportunities; you’re not seeing the whole picture whenever you’re in debt. Whether you know it or not, you may have already been presented with various opportunities to eliminate debt from your life, or even just to make a little bit more cash on the side to ease that burden. And because debt requires so much of your mind space, it’s actually impeding your ability to be creative as well. The irony of the situation is that when you are in debt, that’s when you require creativity the most.
- The second point is that debt steals your self-confidence. This is certainly linked to point number one. But you may feel like you are unworthy or undeserving if you are under the pressures of debt. Those feelings are almost certainly lies, because God is no respecter of persons. If you want to be successful, you can be as successful as you choose to be. However, because your self-confidence has been stolen, you will also take fewer risks in the long run. But again, the irony is that you may have to take some risks in order to get your finances under control.
- The third and final point of this discussion is that debt causes stress. You end up spending a lot of time thinking about solutions. When you are stressed out, you aren’t likely to be terribly creative as well. It definitely affects your creative capacity. So, when you’re under that type of stress, you are less likely to take action as well. However, if you want to get rid of your debt, you’re going to have to take action. That’s going to be a prerequisite.
So, if you find yourself swimming in a sea of debt, you’re not alone. Just remember not to give too much thought to debt, because any thought about debt – where it’s getting out of debt or not – will continue to attract more thoughts of being in debt.
So begin to visualize and imagine yourself prospering, and living in abundance. And don’t forget; you still have to take action.
